Area Located
Sambas Regency is located in north part of Kalimantan Barat Province or lines between 2°08' to 0°33' North Latitude, and from 108°39' to 110°04' East Longitude.
Administratively, regional boundary of Sambas Regency is :
- North : Serawak (Malaysia Timur) & Natuna Sea
- South : Kab. Bengkayang & Singkawang City
- West : Natuna Sea
- East : Kab. Bengkayang & Serawak
Total Area
Total Area of Sambas Regency was 6.395,70 square per kilometer or about 4,36 percent to total area of Kalimantan Barat Province Area Governance of Sambas Regency in 2006 divided to become 17 district and 183 villages and 1 UPT. The largest district in Sambas Regency is Sajingan Besar having 1.391,20 km2 area or 21,75 percent of Sambas Regency and the smallest district is Tekarang broadly equal to 83,16 km2 area or 1,30 percent of Sambas regency.
Topography
The type of the soil is mostly aluvial which spread over 230,63 thousand hectares area or about 36,06 percent of total area of Sambas Regency. The soil of Sambas Regency also contain with red-yellow podsolete (RYP) soil about 157,32 thousand hectares or 24,60 percent outspread almost in all district.
